Explanation of French education system
This system is characterized by the coexistence of 3 systems, the Universities, the “Grandes Ecoles” of Management and the other Business Schools.
The “Grandes Ecoles” of Management or Graduate Business Schools are highly selective and provide high-quality education based on the careful selection of applicants and the training of students to reach an individual level of excellence. The “Grandes Ecoles” of Management were founded in the 19th and early 20th Century by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the major cities in France. If we take into account the universities, there are over 400 Business programmes. The French Ministry of Education recognizes 226 accredited business schools.
However, only 38 “Grandes Ecoles” of Management figure among these top schools. They form the Chapitre Management de la Conférence des Grandes Ecoles (The Management Section of the Conference of Grandes Ecoles), an elite association. The admission procedure for these “Grandes Ecoles” of Management is based on a very selective national entrance examination, regardless of the type of programme. French Business Schools are also characterized by the close ties they develop with the corporate world and by their awareness of the international environment.
ESCEM School of Business and Management is a “Grande Ecole” and member of the Management Section of the Conference of Grandes Ecoles. It is AACSB International accredited and has almost 2600 students enrolled on its programmes today. Every year ESCEM appears in more and more French and international top league tables, real proof of recognition by the media. The school confirms its place in the Top 65 best Masters Management according to the Financial Times.
